About

Design as communication strategy.

I'm a designer and animator with twenty-six years in healthcare marketing. I work with clients on branding, presentation design, explainer videos, motion graphics, research infographics, and illustration. Different formats, one craft: find the story, make it clear, make it stick.

Start with the goal, not the deliverable.

The first conversation is never about fonts or colors. It's about what you need the work to do. Every project begins with the same questions. Who is the audience. What do they need to understand. What is the clearest way to get there. The design follows the answers.

Story is the strategy.

Audiences don't remember information. They remember stories. I don't impose a story on your work; I find the one already inside it, then shape message, structure, and design around it. Twenty-six years of marketing to patients, clinicians, and executives taught me how different audiences listen, and how to write and design for each one.

I teach what I practice.

As host of a creative community forum at a large healthcare enterprise, I gave talks on storytelling, communication, and marketing: the techniques, the theory, and what actually works. I also created, hosted, and led an animation forum and an After Effects user group, where designers from across the organization compared work, traded techniques, and learned from each other. When I learn something useful, I want everyone in the room to have it.

Drawing opens doors.

I'm also a character designer, sculptor, and published children's book illustrator. When a subject is dry or difficult, a drawn character can reach people a chart can't. I've used illustration to bring humor to research ethics and to teach healthy habits through coloring pages for nonprofit groups in the Philippines and Zimbabwe.

Tools.

After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint, Blender, Rive, Figma, and HTML/CSS/JavaScript. I also work with AI creative tools and have written generative AI usage guidelines for creative teams.
